Aging with Grace

Hello fabulous readers! Welcome to my blog, where we're all living on purpose and experiencing peace every day! I am also about living life to the fullest and aging gracefully. I feel great and I intend to feel even better in the future. Today, I want to share with you a few tips for embracing the passage of time with style, sass, and a whole lot of fun. So sit back, relax, no matter your age, this is for you.

You can only control what you can control:

You are in charge of how you start your day, how are you close your day. What you eat and drink, your exercise routine, when you sleep and how you handle the conflicts that arise throughout the day. Don't spend your time worrying about things that you cannot change. Just take care of yourself and the things you can control.

Water, the elixir of life:

Water is essential for our well-being. Moat days I drink a gallon. It is the magical potion that quenches our thirst, nourishes our bodies, and sustains every cell and system within us. From the moment we wake up to the moments before sleep, water is our constant companion, revitalizing and rejuvenating us throughout the day. It regulates our body temperature, aids in digestion, flushes out toxins, and keeps our joints lubricated. With each sip, we embrace the power of hydration, fueling our vitality and supporting optimal physical and mental function. Make it a habit. You body and mind will thank you.

Shake that booty with regular exercise:

Who says aging means slowing down? Not us! I have finally Incorporated regular exercise into my routine, and I love it! Muscle is the number one biomarker for health- So move. Exercise is the key to maintaining muscle and keeping a youthful glow. I love to do a weight class called Body Pump, I enjoy T’ai Chi Chih, I love the rowing machine and I take a Fit 4 Life class. You can try them and anything else. You get to decide what works for you. Whether it's a brisk walk in the park, a dance class, or some gentle yoga stretches, find something you enjoy and get moving. Your body will thank you for it!

Don’t forget the doctor's orders:

Visiting the doctor may not be the most exciting thing on your to-do list, but it's crucial for maintaining your health as you age. Three years ago my doctor told me “I can raise your blood pressure medication or you can go for a walk. The choice is yours.” I chose the walk. That was over 60 pounds ago. My blood work is so much better than it was back then. In fact, the only medication I take now is for my thyroid. Regular check-ups and screenings can catch any issues early on and keep you feeling fabulous for years to come. Plus, it's an excellent excuse to dress up and show off your stylish outfits!

It's not just for beauty… Sleep is the real deal:

You've heard it a million times, but it's worth repeating: beauty sleep is essential! Aim for a solid 7 to 9 hours of shut-eye each night to keep those wrinkles at bay and maintain a radiant complexion. I go to bed early and wear an eye mask. I track my sleep with an Oura ring. I keep my room nice and cool. Set yourself up for success. It's the ultimate but necessary indulgence.

Positivity is the fountain of youth:

Keep that positive mindset shining bright! Embrace silver linings, find joy in the little things, and let your infectious smile light up the world. Start each morning with the Green Focus Power Hour (GFPH): read, journal, affirm, visualize, meditate, and move. These six exercises, 10 minutes each, can truly transform your life. Read anything positive that helps you grow—write, letters to friends, God, or even your future self. Write about the book you’re reading. Anything goes. Write for 10 minutes a day. Onto affirmations. If speaking affirmations is a challenge, write them down first. Stand in front of a mirror for an extra boost. Visualize your future, your dreams coming true. Meditate or find peace for 10 minutes, using guided meditations or quiet reflection. Lastly, move your body—walk, go to the gym, or do exercises that feel right for you. Be consistent with the Green Focus Power Hour to set your day. This will set the day for you.

Love and laughter never get old:

I love to laugh. Staying connected to your loved ones is like a magical elixir for your soul. Surround yourself with friends, family, and those who make you laugh until your cheeks hurt. Plan movie nights, weekend getaways, or simply catch up over a cup of tea. If you are far away there is facetime and zoom. Make sure you are spending time with people that support you. Sharing love and laughter keeps your heart forever young.

Keep that brain working:

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but I beg to differ! Challenge yourself! Learn something new every day. Pick up a musical instrument, delve into a foreign language, or explore a hobby you've always been curious about. I love a good crossword puzzle and I enjoy playing strategic card games. I am constantly learning new thing on the computer. Your brain is a muscle that thrives on stimulation and keeping it active will keep you sharp and vibrant.

Eating with purpose

Food is more than just fuel—it's a delicious opportunity to nourish your body and soul. Embrace a balanced, healthy diet filled with colorful fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. And don't forget to treat yourself to the occasional indulgence!

Chase your passions… aka Dream

Aging gracefully means never losing sight of what makes your heart sing. I call these the desires of your heart. Stay connected to your purpose. Find the time to do what you love, whether it's painting, gardening, writing, or anything that sets your soul on fire. Nurture your passions and watch as they add a touch of magic and purpose to each day.

Embrace your unique style:

Fashion knows no age limits! Embrace your unique style and dress to express yourself. Whether you prefer timeless classics or bold, trendy ensembles, wear what makes you feel confident and fabulous. For the first time in my life, well since Catholic Schoolgirl uniform, I have been wearing dresses most days. I’ve got to say, feel great. Own your style because you're a walking masterpiece!

Embody self-love, always:

Last but certainly not least, remember to love and cherish yourself throughout this beautiful journey called life. Embrace your and celebrate your uniqueness. Self-love is the ultimate secret ingredient to aging gracefully, and it's time to sprinkle it all over your life like confetti.

Live every day on purpose,

Peggy Romero
